Our Fees:

At Kelvale our philosophy is centred on ensuring that we always deliver the highest quality of care to our patients.

We do not follow the current trend of sacrificing quality care to cut costs.

We are therefore obliged to charge a small fee in excess of medicare rebates in order to bring to our patients the best quality of medical services, technologies and facilities.

We support the objectives of Australia’s Medicare system and its intention to provide a universal health insurance scheme with the following objectives:

  • To make health care affordable for all Australians
  • To give all Australians access to health care services with priority according to clinical need
  • To provide a high quality of care

Rebate Freeze:

We regret to have to inform our patients that the Federal Government has frozen YOUR Medicare rebates until 2020.

This means that the amount Medicare contributes to your medical costs will not increase for the next 4 years.

Unfortunately this may mean that general practices experience difficulty in offering bulk billed services in the future.

For further information we suggest that you contact your local federal MP or senator.

We have adopted the following practices when pricing our services to maintain our quality standards but also make access to healthcare as affordable as possible:

For routine consultations we bulk bill the following:

  • ALL pension card holders and their dependent children
  • ALL children under 16 for immunisations and care plans

All other patients of the practice are required to pay a small fee in excess of the medicare rebate.

The majority of this fee is recoverable from Medicare via our secure electronic system TYRO where the patient’s Medicare rebate is refunded directly into their Bank within 20 seconds of the transaction.

Payments can be made by cash, EFTPOS or credit card and the rebate is returned to your account within minutes.

Please Note: Private fees are charged for "after hours" consultations:

  • Mon to Fri - 7am to 8am
  • Mon to Fri - 5pm to 7.30pm
  • Sat after 1pm
  • All Sundays and public holidays

If you are unable to attend an appointment please let reception know so that the appointment may be offered to another patient. Failing to attend an appointment may incur a fee.

For your safety and to enable access to the wide range of services we are required to adhere to our significant quality standards and facilities.

We also need to ensure that we are sufficiently staffed with suitably skilled nurses and other professionals.

These costs are significant and not completely provided for within the level of rebate offered by Medicare. This results in our having to charge above the medicare fee to cover these costs.

As a practice we are committed to keeping the gap between Medicare rebates and our fee as low as possible through increasing our efficiency and closely controlling our costs.

This small additional gap fee enables our patients to access high quality comprehensive medical services for a modest contribution.

Prescriptions may occasionally be written at the doctors’ discretion with a minimum of 3 days notice and a fee is charged.

Most prescriptions allow for 6 months supply of medication after which it is advisable to make an appointment for review.

Note: Prescriptions requiring Health Department Authority require a consultation with the doctor.

In accordance with Medicare your doctor will need to see you before writing a referral to a specialist.

This is so that all relevant medical details can be communicated to your specialist.

Please note we are not permitted to backdate referrals.
